Tragedy in Telangana: 16 babies die at a state-run Sishu Gruha in one month

In a sad news, around 16 new born babies died just in a span of one month in a safety home for kids in the Nalgonda district, Telangana. The safety home, named Sishu Gruha, is a government-run organisation.

Child rights activist Achyuta Rao, while speaking to ANI, said

, the cause for the death of all the kids is the sheer negligence of the staff who were in charge of taking care of the kids. Achyuta Rao said, “it is government’s responsibility to take care of the public and when it runs child home and it is very important to take utmost care of the children living in that home.”

The newly born babies, instead of being fed with milk consisting of lactogen, were fed with tetra packed milk which is strictly prohibited, Rao alleged. He also said that the Sishu Gruha’s staff lied that the infants died as they were underweight.

“I strongly condemn this issue and to get justice I filed a writ petition in the high court by carrying all the proofs against the Shishu Gurha. I won’t leave this until the staff gets punished,” the social activist added.
