Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, is expected to visit Visakhapatnam on 23 October, 2021. During his proposed visit, the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) officials are planning to organise the inauguration of three projects in Vizag.
Reportedly, the three GVMC projects, that will officially be inaugurated by the Chief Minister in Vizag, are the Waste-to-Energy Processing Plant at Kapuluppada, worth Rs. 280 crore, the Multi Level Car Parking Project (MLCP) at Jagadamba Junction, worth Rs. 11 crore, and the renovated VUDA Park, near Beach Road, worth Rs. 33 crore.
- The trial run for the Waste-to-Energy Processing Plant began on 2 October, 2021. GVMC Commissioner, G.Srijana IAS, flagged off the closed compact vehicle in which solid waste was sent to the plant. As a part of the trial run, 500 tons of waste was processed for generating electricity.
- The Multi Level Car Parking (MLCP) facility, which is one of the Smart City Projects by the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC), had also finished its trial run and was likely to be thrown open to the public by the year-end. This facility is being built near Jagadamba Junction, which is often a hotspot for vehicular congestion and parking snarls. The advanced car parking facility is being touted to provide respite from traffic woes in the area
- The historic VUDA Park, which is located on Beach Road, received a major facelift. Reportedly the facelift includes creating multipurpose play areas, galleries for the spectators, an amphitheatre, adventure cycling, renovation of lake boating, creating islands in the lake for seasonal migratory birds, developing walking tracks, creating a 70-car parking facility and yoga space, among others. The renovated VUDA Park has been delayed for a long time due to the COVID-19 pandemic and will now be inaugurated.
Gearing up for the Chief Minister’s visit, the GVMC Commissioner has informed the Engineering Department to make all necessary arrangements.
