The Union Ministry of Railways recently decided to renumber all Mail / Express Special (MSPC) and Holiday Special (HSP) trains as regular trains. With this, the Indian Railways is attempting to revert to pre Covid-19 levels of service. Acting on this, East Coast Railway (ECoR) has also announced that the following 31 special trains through Visakhapatnam have been renumbered as regular trains. These will then run with different train numbers.
Speaking on these developments, Divisional Commercial Manager of Waltair Railway Division, AK Tripathi, shared, “As of now, 97 special trains in the division have been converted to their pre-Covid-19 numbers. In the coming days, 6-7 more trains through Visakhapatnam are to be announced as such. Due to some trains running for multiple days, they will be renumbered at their respective destinations. ECoR is expecting all special trains to be renumbered by the end of this month.”
