Alright! Now that an eventful 2017 has come to an end, let’s welcome 2018 with lots of joy and hope. While the past 365 days helped Visakhapatnam stamp its authority in the state, the new year too promises a lot in store. On the one hand, many long made promises remain to be fulfilled by the government, and on the other, a lot more new avenues are set to promote “Brand Vizag”. So here are 5 things that Visakhapatnam is looking forward to in 2018.
#1 Visakhapatnam Railway Zone
A few weeks earlier, Railway Minister Piyush Goel informed that the issue of setting up a special railway zone in Andhra Pradesh, with Visakhapatnam as its headquarters, is at an advanced stage of consideration with the government. The fulfillment of this long made promise is one prospective thing that the city is eagerly waiting for.
#2 Flourishing Fintech Valley
Visakhapatnam is all set to emerge as the IT hub of Andhra Pradesh. Strengthening the same status, the emergence of Fintech Valley in the city has attracted many national and international companies to invest here. The upcoming 12 months promise a lot in store as the government is trying to ink pacts with many prominent firms to ascertain the city’s supremacy.
#3 Thriving Tourism
Be it the Araku Balloon Festival, or the aircraft museum, or even the recently launched heli tourism, 2017 saw Visakhapatnam take major strides in emerging as a major tourist attraction in the state. Going ahead, the officials are determined to bring in a lot more feathers into the city’s cap and help it grow further into a tourist paradise. In fact, it has also been reported that 13 tourist firms have shown interest in establishing their firms in Visakhapatnam in the coming two years.
#4 Setting up of International biggies
From technological giant Google to the world’s largest retail store Walmart, a fair number of international companies are all geared up to set foot on our shores. While the tentative dates of their establishments in the city may vary, 2018 definitely looks at some sunny days ahead for Vizag.
#5 NAD Flyover
The government is likely to take major strides towards the much-awaited NAD flyover. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, who laid the foundation stone for this flyover in October last year, had promised that it would be completed in 18 months. It remains to see if the plan does materialize in order to reduce the traffic woes at NAD junction.
