Bollywood has shown us various facets of life, sometimes relatable, sometimes not. But whenever they show some extravagant weddings or festivities, we want to be a part of it (whereas our souls would be crushing inside, looking at our bank balance!) Be it the parties of KJo’s movies or the festivals of Rajshri’s movies, we cringe from inside! Nevertheless they make us experience these joyous events through our eyes.
This Dussehra, let us do the same. We compiled a list of 6 movies to charge up your festivities on your screen.
Parineeta
Set in the city of joy – Kolkata – during the 1960s, this movie beautifully portrays Durga Puja on screen. Sanjay Dutt is seen doing the Dhunuchi dance with style and expertise.
Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam
From Dandiya to Garba, this movie screams Navratri. There is not one Dandiya night celebration that does not play the song – Dhol Baaje!
Devdas
Another masterpiece from the man of extravagant sets – Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The movie though based on the love shared between Devdas, Paro and Chandramukhi shows the magnanimous idol of Goddess Durga and the celebrations around her.
Ram Leela
Set in Gujarat, the movie is high on Garba. Every small victory is celebrated with a small round of Garba. And how can we forget Deepika dancing to Nagada Sang Dhol!
Kahaani
Beginning with the chaotic Durga Puja celebrations, this thriller movie reveals its epic climax on Vijaya Dashmi.
Kai Po Che
A movie set in Gujarat and not showing Garba? Impossible. The same is with kai Po Che, very far from the theme of celebrations, the movie still manages to show some Garba!
