With the launch of operations of the global cyber security research centre set up in the port city by Forty Two Labs, founded by a group of entrepreneurs from Israel and India with rich experience in the field of IT, Vizag takes its first step forward towards transforming into Cyber Security Cluster.
Being the first-of-its-kind, the R&D lab specializes in next generation technologies to check cyber crimes following the increase in demand for digital transaction. It will also start research projects in the sector of developing Vizag as FinTech Valley. Set up in collaboration with AP Electronics and IT Agency (APEITA), an autonomous body set up by the government to promote investments in electronics and IT, the MoU for the project was signed with the State government in October 2016.
Speaking about the project, IT Adviser to Chief Minister and Special Chief Secretary JA Chowdary reportedly said that with the cyber space holding a lot of importance, the R&D lab was expected to evolve technologies to prevent and fight new types of cyber terrorism and offences.
The project is established in Vizag considering its strategic location as a home to the headquarters of Eastern Naval Command, marine commandos, submarines, Hindustan Shipyard Ltd and Ship Building Project, Naval Alternative Operational Base (NAOB), and second campus of the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre at Rambilli.
