The heavy rain has brought sorrow to the districts of Srikakulam and Vizianagaram. The waters in the Vamsadhara and Nagavali rivers are above danger levels and have inundated the low lying areas. Teams of NDRF have been deployed. Crop fields are under water and road damages are extensive. Communication with Kolllivalasa village has been cut off due to flood waters and school and Public Healthcare are suffering.
Flood waters have engulfed roads and traffic is disrupted. Contact with villages cannot be established. 300 acres of crop fields are under water in Palakonda mandal. Villages could not be evacuated but alerts have been issued to river bank areas.
One death reported in Srikakulam district where a man was washed away by flood water. He was trying to cross the Vamsadhara river and all attempts to rescue him failed. NDRF teams have been urged to rescue all the victims of flood water. Collector Vivek Yadav and ITDA PO Laxmisha have inspected many villages and all attempts are being made to alleviate the sufferings of the villagers.
