Bird strike, birds getting stuck and technical issues following there with are a plague to airline across the world. The menace found a recent occurrence at Vizag Airport. An Indigo Airlines flight from Visakhapatnam to Bangalore was detained after a bird was found stuck to it’s propeller. This incident occurred on Wednesday and the flight which was to depart at 7.50 a.m could not take off. The pilot’s timely vigilance avoided a possible unfortunate incident.
The Indigo aircraft was carrying 178 passengers on board and all of them bemoaned being stranded at the Vizag airport. The good judgement of the pilot was taken well in time. Technical teams for dealing with the situation have been called in. They are to arrive from Delhi and Chennai. The passengers who had to endure a long wait have been accommodated on a different aircraft.
The bird strike problem has derailed flight schedules many a time and at many places. The recent incident at Vizag airport brings to light a problem for which a solution is yet to be had. Many places have explored using bird distress signals to pyrotechnics, removing vegetation cover etc. These problems still keep happening.
