Visakhapatnam : The festive season is here and each temple is being flocked by the devotees. Our city too has been buzzing with this vibe and the famous temples in and around Vizag have been rejuvenated with devotion.
Simhachalam is one such place which celebrates Dussehra in its own way with
Jammi Veta. It is a traditional festival where the presiding deity, Sri Varahalakshmi Nrushimha Swamy is decorated as Lord Sri Rama with bows and arrows. However, this year, this particular festival will witness an all-new feature.
The Lord Sri Narasimha of Simhachalam has got a new vahana (vehicle). The vehicle, which is being called as the asvavahana, has been donated by a disciple belonging to the city. It is a vehicle shaped in the form of a horse. The disciple, Mr. Srinivasa Rao, has spent INR 2.5 lakhs in getting the vehicle made in Vijayawada. Also, a weapon too has been donated along with the vehicle.
So far, a vehicle made out of wood has been used to carry the deity. During this time of the year, when the Jammi Veta festival is celebrated, the wooden vehicle is renovated and used in the procession. Mr. Srinivasa Rao came to know about this and responded by getting this new brass vehicle.
The asvavahana has been inspected by various officials connected to the temple and have given a green signal to it. It will be used in this year’s Jammi Veta festival on the occasion of Vijayadasami.
