Finnish workwear service company, Lindstrom Group, may set up cleanroom laundry in the cities of Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad, and Vadodara. The group, which specialises in servicing workwear of various industries, healthcare, and other firms, has 11 facilities across the country to cater to the needs of its clients. Headquartered in Mumbai, Lindstrom Group had started its operations from Parawada in July.
The group’s president and CEO, Juha Laurio, visited this facility for the first time on Saturday. Speaking to The Hindu, he told that the company would be setting up India’s first cleanroom laundry in Pune in March. The honcho also said that they were contemplating over establishing similar Greenfield facilities in the Visakhapatnam after the good response received for the facilities in Hyderabad, Vadodara, and Bengaluru.
Lindstrom India Managing Director Anupam Chakrabarty said, the Visakhapatnam facility, located near Jawaharlal Nehru Pharma City, is currently used by 7,000 to 10,000 people. Over one lakh garments are serviced on a daily basis catering to the needs of 1,000 companies through 11 facilities in India. The Managing Director also informed that the district’s facility is servicing the needs of Vijayawada and parts of Southern Odisha. He added that, based on the response garnered, the company is looking to expand its facilities in the country.
Mr. Chakrabarty said that being in the business of promoting hygiene, Lindstrom India has been making major contributions towards the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. The company, which recycled 74% of the textile waste last year, aims at notching it up to 90% this year. The firm is also providing clean drinking water to schools in rural areas of Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan benefitting about 10 lakh children.
