Andhra Pradesh will now boast of the world first and largest ever Solar Wind Hybrid Park that is to come up at Anantapur.
An ambitious project on a huge scale, the world first as well as the world largest Solar Wind Hybrid Park is to be located in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh. The mega project is coming up at an estimated cost of 1,000 crores INR and World Bank is funding it. A huge area of 1000 acres will be devoted to this mammoth project. The world’s first ever solar-wind hybrid park is being planned in Anantapur district. The 160-MW park will also have battery back-up that will ensure that it can take the lag when the wind speed reduces at night, when there is no sun. This is also being promoted as a pilot project. The idea is to create a model where grid failures can be totally avoided.
A successful model that has been tried and tested in Jamaica and China, the one coming up in Anantapur Andhra Pradesh will be the largest and world first of it’s kind. Here are the Highlights:
#1 The one coming up in Anantapur will be the largest installation. The solar-wind park is also a part of the plan.
#2 The Solar Energy Corporation of India, AP Solar Energy Corporation, AP Nedcap and AP Transco will be jointly working on the park.
#3 About 2000 acres of government owned barren land was identified by Nedcap in Anantapur District.
#4 Failures in the power grid and fluctuations forced the power sector in Andhra Pradesh to come up with the design of an innovative concept using wind and solar sectors to avoid similar incidents.
#6 The hybrid park at Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh is expected to generate 120 MW of solar power and 40 MW of wind energy.
