Andhra Pradesh HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao launched the much-awaited heli tourism for the public in Visakhapatnam on Friday. The minister, as a part of the event at Rushikonda beach, handed over the tickets to those who took the helicopter rides.
The pilot project was flagged off by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu earlier this month. After conducting trail runs on 16th and 17th December, the rides have now been made available to the public.
While addressing the gathering, Mr. Ganta Srinivasa Rao said that Visakhapatnam will be developed into a tourist destination in the coming days. He also added that heli tourism will add on to the festive spirits of the ongoing Visakha Utsav.
It has also been informed that apart from engaging the tourists, the helicopters will also be used for medical emergencies and disaster management as well. The minister said that several corporate companies should come forward and sign MOUs with the government in regard to the same.
Mr. Ganta Srinivasa Rao informed that Rs.16.82 crore has been allotted to develop the tourism sector in Visakhapatnam.
