In a welcoming news, it has been reported that Andhra Pradesh has emerged as the top state in the allotment of seats under the India BPO Promotion Scheme (IBPS) launched by the Software Technology Parks of India. The scheme, which is aimed at improving the employment in Tier II and Tier III cities and towns, is a part of the Digital India scheme. Visakhapatnam maintained its supremacy in the state by getting the majority of the seats allotted to Andhra Pradesh. It has been learned that out of the total 17,850 seats allotted to Andhra Pradesh, 4000 have been sanctioned to Visakhapatnam.
STPI Joint Director M.P. Dubey said, “The State in general and Visakhapatnam, in particular, have got record number of allotment and response from entrepreneurs to create jobs in Sunrise Andhra Pradesh. The reason for good response in Visakhapatnam is the availability of qualified graduates and migration of many experienced candidates from neighbouring States.”
Under this scheme, incentives worth Rs. 493 crore will be sanctioned by allotting 48,300 seats. It is also expected that as many as 1.5 lakh people will be provided employment in the coming three years.
It is a known fact that the city has provided employment to many youngsters belonging to the IT and related fields. Popular BPOs such as HSBC, Concentrix, WNS, and Patra India, are a few of the companies that house many employed youths in Visakhapatnam.
