UAE-based LuLu group is all set to construct its convention centre in the city of Vizag. The much-awaited project, which will be constructed with an estimated investment of Rs 2000 crore, had its foundation stone laid by Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu on Saturday. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, LuLu Group chairman Yusuff Ali MA, central ministers Suresh Prabhu and Ashok Gajapathi Raju, and other officials and diplomats were also present at the stone laying ceremony.
Mr. Yusuff Ali said, “We hope to complete this prestigious project by 2021. It will provide a world-class shopping experience for both tourists and residents of the state.” He informed that the project would be completed in three years and would generate around 5000 direct jobs and many more indirect jobs. The LuLu honcho also said that the facility would bring international conventions and tourists to Visakhapatnam. “The mall will have more than 200 national and international brands, hypermarket, 11 screens multiplex, family entertainment centre, food courts with 2,500 seats and more than 20 F&B outlets and fine dining concepts,” he added.
Reportedly, CM Chandrababu Naidu said the convention centre would be a prestigious one for Vizag and urged the company to complete the project in 30 months.
The city’s convention centre will be proceeding under the Private Public Partnership (PPP). Close to 13.83 acres of land has been allotted for the same by the government officials.
