Yet another film has fallen prey to online pirates. This time it’s Superstar Rajinikanth’s much-awaited magnum opus 2.0. A rough cut of the film’s teaser surfaced online recently and soon went viral on social media. This comes a just a few days after the teaser of Rajinikanth’s Kaala leaked online hours before its official launch.
It is being speculated that the teaser might have been shot on a mobile phone during an event before releasing it on the web.
The incident has not gone down well with the filmmakers and many fans across the globe. Filmmaker and Rajinikanth’s daughter Soundarya Rajinikanth took to Twitter to give her call to the audience. “Leaking content online before the official release should not be tolerated or encouraged. This is a heartless act ignoring hard work, efforts and sentiments of the makers for few seconds of excitement !!!” she tweeted.
While the teaser leaks forced films such as Bahubali 2 and Kaala to release their teasers prior to the official schedules, 2.0’s teaser can’t be released as the VFX works still need to be completed.
2.0 marks the Kollywood debut of Bollywood star Akshay Kumar. The film is apparently being made on a whopping budget close to Rs 400 crore and is being deemed as the most expensive Indian movie ever. The film is the sequel to 2010’s blockbuster Enthiran which broke several records and won innumerable accolades to the movie’s director Shankar.
