Tamil film ‘Vikram Vedha’ stood out as one of the best films that released in 2017. Critically acclaimed by many, the movie was also adjourned as the best Indian movie of 2017 by IMDb based the users’ ratings. Ever since the film struck a chord with film lovers across borders, filmmakers of several industries have tried to bag the remake rights of the film. Going with the same spree, the Hindi remake of the film has been confirmed recently.
Vikram Vedha to be remade into Hindi
The Madhavan-Vijay Sethupathi starrer will be remade into Bollywood by the husband and wife duo Pushkar-Gayatri, who made the film in Tamil too.
Vikram Vedha’s Hindi version will be produced by Reliance Entertainment, with Friday Filmworks and Y Not Studios. Star director Neeraj Pandey will be joining the team as the writer and creative producer, it has been learned.
Y Not Studios, in an official statement, said, “After our two successful co-productions in Hindi, Saala Khadoos & Shubh Mangal Saavdhan with Rajkumar Hirani & Anand L. Rai respectively, we at YNot Studios are super excited to join hands with Anil D. Ambani led Reliance Entertainment and its partners Plan C studios spearheaded by the dynamic Neeraj Pandey for our third production, to be directed by Pushkar and Gayatri.”

The lead actors of the film are yet to be announced. “After the release of the Tamil original, many of them reached out to S Sashikanth (Y Not Studios) to partner with him on the Hindi remake. The film can easily be made with any good talent but stars guarantee a wider reach which is what the idea of the remake is,” Shibasish Sarkar, COO, Reliance Entertainment, was quoted as saying.
The film is also likely to be remade in Telugu with several actors expressing the interest to play the titular roles.
Vikram Vedha is neo-noir thriller that is developed on a unique treatment given to the classic ‘Vikram-Betal’ mythology. While Madhavan is seen playing the role of an ingenious cop, Vijay Sethupathi dons the role of a local thug.
