The recent rape incident of a 24 year old Dalit handicapped woman in Vizianagaram was condemned as a fake report by the Superintendent of Police G Pala Raju on Tuesday. The woman has filed a case accusing that she was gang-raped in Saripalli village of Nellimarla police station limits on Sunday which ultimately was proven to be a fake incident.
The incident was a made up story by the woman to mislead her family and gain sympathy as she returned home late on Sunday evening. Four teams were formed, led by DSP rank officials after the case was filed to collect the required evidences.
The SP mentioned that he had visited the place personally where the gangrape was said to have taken place and the CCTV’s footage collected from the area contained no evidence of the incident. This led to the conclusion that it was a fake complaint. Besides, the signals from the cell tower also proved that the complainant was nowhere near Saripalli village during the time of the incident as they showed signs of her presence in Vizianagaram during the time at which she alleged the incident to have taken place.
Also, the medical report stated that she did not sustain any physical injuries on her body.To ensure a proper investigation, the police contacted auto-rickshaw drivers in and around the area where the incident took place and found that the details did not match.
However, the police have decided not to take any action against the lady as she is physically handicapped.
The SP has asked people not to lodge such fake complaints which might lead genuine and innocent people into trouble. He has also congratulated the police officials for presenting the right facts and investigating successfully. DSPs Soumyalatha, T.Trinath Rao and A.V. Ramana, Vizianagaram Rural CI D.Laxmana Rao, Special Branch CI D.Rama Krishna, SIs Upendra, Narayana Rao and other constables were a part of the team who took the matter to the investigation.
