BJP President Amit Shah had to face the wrath of angry protestors in Andhra Pradesh when he visited the holy shrine in Tirupati on Friday. Making demands to cater the much-coveted Special Category Status to the state, the angry protesters pelted stones on Amit Shah’s convoy.
Shah arrived in Tirupati last night after completing his month-long election campaign in Karnataka. The protestors shouted slogans and demanded the centre must fulfill all the promises made to the state.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu condemned the behaviour of his cadres. “It is against our party discipline. Workers should not bring bad name to the party with their behaviour. We have to take stern action if such misdeeds repeat. We should agitate in democratic ways,” the CM was quoted as saying.
“No stone hit Shah’s vehicle. The stone hit another vehicle behind Shah’s car.We don’t know yet if some miscreants posing as TDP workers resorted to this act,” Deputy Chief Minister (Home) N China Rajappa told the reporters.
Tirupati Urban Superintendent of Police Abhishek Mohanty informed, “BJP leaders have lodged a complaint with us over the attack. We have got only preliminary information and we are verifying all facts.”
Earlier, TDP had ended its ties with BJP when the latter allegedly failed to fulfill its promises to Andhra Pradesh.
