Bringing flavours of the Godavari district, this place has unique offerings. This restaurant in Vizag has got all the foodies excited and here’s what on offer.
The Setting
The Godavari Restaurant is made to resemble the Godavari railway station. An arrangement of plants, and a yellow signboard, welcome you into a white and green ambience that offers a homely feel. Paintings, glass panels and wooden frames make the décor pleasing to the eye. Set up in the ground floor of the double-storied house of Kala and her daughter Usha, their restaurant has a seating capacity of 30, and is great for families and people across age groups.
The Fare
With a range of delicious starters, platters and curries, there are many options for vegetarians and non vegetarians. Right from mouth-watering biryanis, such as the Podi biryani, there is a variety of food, inspired from different kitchens.
Plans to add more dishes are also on the anvil and people in the neighbourhood are also welcomed to cater with their ‘special signature dish’. Other aspects which make it worth a visit, are the usage of quality ingredients, reasonable pricing and non-usage of artificial colours and flavouring substances. Also, food options change with the time of the day and are prepared differently based on the age-group of the customers.
Yo! Recommends
Along with the many novel dishes that the restaurant offers, do check out the different pickles and podis that are kept here for people to taste. Podi chicken biryani, Pan Fry Fish, flaxseed podi, bellam charu, fish pulusu and non-veg pickles are a must-try. The Rotu Pachhadi and Gongura Pappu come recommended as well.
PS: Interestingly, this restaurant also goes the extra mile in avoiding food-wastage with food being cooked only after the order is placed.
