Admiral Sunil Lamba, Chief of Naval Staff, Government of India, said that Indian Navy would collaborate with Andhra University in Vizag on research front to initiate indigenous technology for the Navy. Regarding defence courses, a MoU has been signed between the Chief and Vice-Chancellor of the varsity.
The Chief spoke to the Vice-Chancellor of Andhra University Prof.G.Nageswara Rao, who visited South Block in New Delhi to meet the Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Sunil Lamba today.
On 26th July at 10 A.M., the Vice-chancellor met Admiral along with the delegation. Prof. Nageswara Rao initiated the discussion and briefed about the defence courses being offered to Army, Indian Navy, and Airforce personnel. During the meeting it was discussed that the Diploma, certificate, degree, P.G. and Ph.D. courses may be pursued in A.U. campus on the signing of MoU, mutually agreed.
It was also highlighted by V.C. that Andhra University wishes to extend its services to the people who serve the nation. Prof. Rao also admitted that if Navy personnel pursue their studies in A.U. it enhances the Brand image of A.U.
Prof.Lamba said he would send his team to study the requirements needed from the Navy side to sign the MoU with A.U.
In the meeting along with Admiral, Commodore Rohtash Singh (Principal Director of Naval education), Commodore. Mr. Sanjay Bhall, (Naval Advisor to the Chief of the Naval Staff Brig. Mrigendra Kumar, Secretary of Kendriya Sainik Board were present.
Along with VC, Dr. K. Kumar Raja (Academic Senate Member), Mr. Ujjwal Kumar Ghatak (Academic Advisor, A.U. Defence Joint Education Programme) and Dr. Shaik Suleman, General Manager, Edcil (India) Limited and A.U. Alumni Association Delhi chapter secretary was also present during the entire discussion.
