In addition to the many restaurants in the city, recent developments suggest that Visakhapatnam might soon have two more restaurants themed around new concepts. While one of them would be a floating restaurant, the other is a container cafeteria.
Floating Restaurant
The idea of a floating restaurant for tourism, proposed by the Union Shipping Minister, Nitin Gadkari, during his recent visit to Visakhapatnam might soon turn into reality. The Port Trust of the city is appointing an official to study the possibility of the project.
Speaking to The Hindu, Visakhapatnam Port Trust Deputy Chairman, PI Harinadh said, “We will seek an expression of interest to find out which successful floating restaurant model is best suited for Visakhapatnam. We have to study various options for the technical and financial viability of the project.”
Container Cafeteria
The charming Visakhapatnam-Bheemili road is expected to have a new attraction. The Andhra Pradesh Tourism Authority has planned to set up a container cafeteria on a 2-acre land, near Erra Matti Dibbalu. The cafeteria, as informed by concerned officials, would be consisting entirely of glass windows to treat the visitors with some breathtaking sights of the nearby landscapes and beach. Parking and garden facilities too would be sprawling in the vicinity of this stand-alone restaurant.
“The concept is that of a container terminal but entirely with glass windows for a panoramic view of the sea and open gardens. The building, done in conformity with Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) norms, is a non-permanent structure with ground plus first floor. The restaurant would be 70 feet by 90 feet with parking and gardens around on the sprawling two-acre land. The land levelling work has already been completed,” executive engineer of APTDC S V Gangaraju, was quoted as saying.
