In what might add further to the city’s tourist attractions, a knife-shaped recreational park will soon be adorning Visakhapatnam. The park had its foundation stone laid on Wednesday by Police Director General R.P Thakur. TDP MLA Velagapudi Ramakrishna Babu and Visakhapatnam District Collector Pravin Kumar were also present among others.
The park would be adjacent to the Dairy farm located on the city’s National Highway and will be constructed with an estimated amount of Rs 1 crore that would be invested by GVMC. The works would be commencing in the coming two or three days and the park is expected to be open for the visitors in the next five months.
The area, which plays host to many offices, schools, and residential spaces, will now be equipped with much-needed greenery and the move is being appreciated by the locals.
Reportedly, in addition to featuring multiple recreational facilities, the park will also have a walker’s track. Also, the rainwater flowing from the adjacent Sitakonda would be used to facilitate the place with a lake. The place would have a dedicated section for cultural activities as well.
In order to avoid traffic congestion on the National Highway, the authorities are planning to set up the entry from the eastern side.
