On an idea to provide quality education, matching equally with the private schools, GVMC has identified four schools for development as ‘smart schools’ as a part of the Smart City Project in Visakhapatnam. Not just painting the campus or repairing the toilets, the officials are adding features matching to corporate schools.
GVMC Primary School (II) at China Waltair, KDPM High School in East Point Colony, Jalaripeta Primary School and China Waltair Primary School (II) are the four identified schools in Visakhapatnam. Smart City Manager G. Anand Rao said, ” The works undertaken in the first three campuses are over. The project undertaken at the China Waltair Primary School (II) is apace.”
Municipal Commissioner, and Managing Director and CEO of the Smart City project, M. Hari Narayanan mentioned, “The students have access to online teaching modules on par with any corporate school.”
The four ‘smart schools’ have digital classrooms, state-of-the-art audio-visual aids and well-equipped grounds. KDPM High School in East Point Colony has a volleyball court, China Waltair school has a cricket pitch and kabbadi arena. The rooftop of all the schools has self-sustainable solar panels.
As per the funding, the China Waltair (I) and KDPM High Schools have been sanctioned with Rs 1.37 crore, Jalarpeta and Chinna Waltair Primary Schools were sanctioned with Rs 1.28 crore and Rs 86 lakh respectively.
