The Centre has once again reiterated its stand on not granting special status to Andhra Pradesh. While responding to a question raised by Telugu Desam member Kanakamedala Ravindrakumar on Tuesday, the Central government said it has already announced a special package to Andhra Pradesh and was also providing financial assistance to the state.
Citing the 14th Finance Commission, the Central government also pointed out that going by the report, it was not possible to grant special status to any state.
TDP MPs continued their protests demanding special status for Andhra Pradesh. Continuing with his unique way of staging his dissent, MP Naramalli Sivaprasad dressed up as a folk singer demanding special status for the state. Earlier protests saw him dress up as a magician, NTR, a woman and a deity among others.
