The second edition of Araku Balloon Festival has kicked off in style on Friday. The three-day carnival hosts hot air balloon pilots from 15 countries including India, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Slovakia, Italy, UK, Thailand, Netherlands, Germany, Japan USA, France, Spain, and Malaysia.
The first day of the festival has already witnessed 20 hot air balloons soar high, offering a spectacle to behold. The tourists and the villagers were in for a treat as they watched a vivid range of balloons sail across the scenic valleys of Araku.
Apart from balloon flights, Araku Balloon Festival will feature other exciting events such as tethered flights, night glows, and para-motoring displays to name a few. Furthermore, much to the delight of the crowd, the organisers are also offering a few to get on board the hot air balloons stationed at the site.
Yo! Vizag has learned that a few enthusiasts will be given a chance to be a part of the tethered flights, which will be organised at the NTR grounds in Araku at 6 pm on Friday. The participants will be chosen through a lucky draw.
Akshaya Nori of Yo! Vizag, who got a chance to take a flight at Araku Balloon Festival on Friday, described the experience as “exhilarating”. Read the whole experience here.
The first edition of the festival was held in November 2017. While the weather played a spoilsport then, the carnival is expected to go unhindered this time around, with the forecast predicting no rain for the next two days.
