Visakhapatnam public library has undergone a makeover and is now available for the readers with a new and upgraded look.
It may be noted that Visakhapatnam public library is located at Dwarkanagar. The first floor of the library, which is about 8000 square feet, underwent a makeover. The library has now got a new reading environment and modernized meeting halls. It is even equipped with materials on the latest current affairs revamping the library to serve the needs of students and job aspirants. GVMC Commissioner M. Harinarayanan and MP K. Haribabu inaugurated the renovated first floor on Saturday.
The refurbished library is now equipped with new furniture, Wi-Fi facility, modern washrooms, and a solar power plant. The public library, with its newly installed 55kW solar rooftop plant, can now cater to its own power needs. Also, saplings were planted all around the building as a part of the go-green initiative. According to The Hindu, the seating facility in the reading rooms is now increased to 230 from 160 earlier. The library also has new flooring, paintings, and décor.
It is also noted that the library has now got an increased seating space and the area that holds books and journals is also extended. The WiFi facility at the library now gives the students access to the online material and reportedly, the authorities also have plans to make T,mED talks available for the students.
Reportedly, Visakhapatnam public library now sports a career orientation section for the students preparing for various competitive examinations. MLA P. Vishnu Kumar Raju, who was present at the inauguration event, stated that the new ambiance motivates the students towards focussing more and preparing for various examinations.
