Visakhapatnam MP Kambhampati Hari Babu inaugurated the administration office of the Andaman Islands at Akkayyapalem in the city recently. The facilities for ticket and cargo booking, passenger night-halt stay and guest house, by Visakhapatnam Port Trust (VPT), were also inaugurated.
Reportedly, more shipping services and flights are likely to be introduced between Visakhapatnam and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands to boost tourism.
Visakhapatnam Port Trust Chairman, MT Krishna Babu informed that there is a scope for growth of budget tourism between Visakhapatnam and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. As reported by Times of India, Mr. Babu informed that they were trying to operate domestic cruise from Chennai to Port Blair through Vizag. He further said that a cruise terminal, at a cost of Rs 80 crores, a modern cruise jetty, and international luxury cruise vessels, are expected to boost the tourist soon in the region.
Vizag and the Andaman Islands continue to attract many tourists each year. Two of the more popular tourist destinations in the Eastern part, the two places boast several attractions to thrill the visitors. With better connectivity between them, tourism is expected to get a major boost.
