At a review meeting held on Wednesday, AP Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said that one polytechnic college from each parliamentary constituency, across the state, will be furnished with necessary infrastructure and converted into a Skill Development Centre (SDC). Furthermore, these centres would function under the proposed universities. Speaking in this regard, the Chief Minister opined that bringing all the skill development activities under one umbrella would ease the administration.
The YSRCP supremo said that the universities should design the curriculum as per the industry needs. Elaborating further, he said that the training can be planned by identifying local industries and noting down their requirements. Reputed companies in the respective domains can be roped in to deliver hands-on training to the students. The certificates issued by the government should be able to fetch jobs to the unemployed youth in the state, he added.
Earlier in December, Andhra University (AU) launched two skill development centres – a Maritime Skill Development Centre and an Aquaculture Skill Development Centre in Visakhapatnam.
