The Handloom and Handicrafts Exhibition is being held from 15 December 2021at the Andhra University Engineering College grounds in Maddilapalem, Vizag. Starting from Wednesday, this exhibition is planned to be held for over 65 days.
There are approximately 200 stalls, from 23 states, showcasing various handloom handicraft products. Organic products, ceramic flower pots and crockery materials will also be some of the items that will be displayed at the exhibition. Traditional products from Kashmir, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and quite a number of other states, are also going to be exhibited. Additionally, the products made by the Development of Women and Children in Rural Areas (DWCRA) members will also be on display.
The sets at the Handloom and Handicrafts Exhibition in Vizag have been designed by over 70 artists, including famous art director Shekar from Tamil Nadu, who earlier worked on the sets of Baahubali. A part of the exhibition will be replicas of famous structures such as the Twin Towers of Malaysia, Disney World, the Universal Studios Globe, London Bridge and Burj Khalifa of Dubai (the tallest building in the world). A typical tribal family set, with a very natural look, is also being installed in order to display their lifestyle within their natural surroundings.
The main entry gate of the exhibition replicates the Smart City of Visakhapatnam, which is 200- feet long. The entry fee is Rs. 60, with no additional parking charges. The exhibition is open for visitors from 12 pm to 10 pm. All visitors are expected to follow Covid-19 protocol by taking the necessary measures like wearing a mask and maintaining social distance. It could take a minimum of 3 hours or more to cover the entire exhibition.
