The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) is operating special buses from Visakhapatnam to various other cities and towns in the state. The special buses will cater to destinations such as Kakinada, Rajahmundry, Palasa, Srikakulam, Palakonda, Bhimavaram, and Razole. Additionally, there are RTC special buses from Visakhapatnam to Hyderabad. The region has operated 641 special buses from Visakhapatnam to various destinations within the State before the Sankranti festival.
126 RTC special buses from Visakhapatnam had operated uptil 12 January, 2022. There was no full occupancy, only about 80%, in these buses due to the ongoing Omicron scare. As on 14 January,2022, 10 buses had run to Bhimavaram, 21 buses had run to Amalapuram, 50 buses had run to Vijayawada, 65 buses had run to Kakinada, 130 buses had run to Rajahmundry, 50 buses had run to Palasa, 45 buses had run to Pathapatnam, 170 buses had run to Srikakulam, and 50 buses to Vizianagaram and Palakonda respectively.
Post-Sankranti 232 RTC special buses from Visakhapatnam are scheduled to other destinations in the state. As part of this, 105 buses will go to Rajahmundry, 55 buses will go to Vijayawada, 45 buses will go to Kakinada, 11 buses will go to Bhimavaram and 16 buses will go to Amalapuram. Apart from these, there are a total of 50 RTC special buses from Visakhapatnam to Hyderabad after Sankranti, from 16 January, 2022 to 23 January, 2022.
Additionally, 232 special buses will be operated from other destinations to Visakhapatnam post-Sankranti. From 16 January, 2022 to 23 January, 2022, 11 buses from Bhimavaram, 16 buses from Razole, 45 buses from Kakinada, and 105 buses from Rajahmundry will run to Vizag.
APSRTC is charging extra fare on certain special buses and there is no extra charge on regular bus services. While the private buses have been charging extra fares on the bus services.
