The public health department of GVMC is all geared up for the monsoon. They have come up with an action plan for the prevention of communicable diseases in the city during this season. The plan involves removal of silt from all the drains to prevent clogging of water.
The Chief Medical Officer of GVMC Dr A Hemanth Kumar reportedly stated that the sanitation wing has managed to identify major drains in the city located in Bheemili and Anakapalle. Stilt will be removed in the drains there to ensure free flow of water. 80% of the work has already been completed and the rest will be done in a few days, he reportedly said.
As per their plan, drains upto nearly 100 KM have been cleared de-stilted. Medical camps have also been conducted, along with the anti-larval operations taking place in high-risk areas. Solid waste management and proper door-to-door garbage collection also features on their agenda.
The Public Health Department is also partaking in a door-to-door campaign for creating awareness amongst people about the various diseases common in this season. Information about prevention measures will also be dispelled.
