Akira: Movie Review

The Review

The Review

Movie: Akira

Language: Hindi

Genre: Action/Crime

Director:  A R Murugadoss

Cast: Sonakshi Sinha, Anurag Kashyap, Konkana Sen Sharma and Amit Sadh

AR Murugadoss’s attempt to make a female-centric action movie, a remake of the Tamil hit Mouna Guru.

What is it about

Akira (Sonakshi Sinha), hailing from a small village in Jodhpur chooses to train in Karate rather than Kathak. She distorts the face of an acid attacker with his own acid and is later shown in a college in Mumbai where she beats up bullies. She somehow manages to get herself into trouble embroiled in abduction, murder and police. A corrupt cop Rane (Anurag Kashyap) is behind her life as she has witnesses something she shouldn’t. The only support she gets is from a pregnant lady police Rabiya Sultan (Konkana Sen Sharma).

Why you should watch it

Watch it for some action entertainment provided by Murugadoss. Expect a lot of kicks and punches by Sonakshi. This movie is more about action and less about thrill, just replace Salman or Akshay with a Sonakshi- and you get a full action dhamaal.

What’s Hot

  • Anurag’s acting debut
  • Sonakshi’s karate

What’s Not

  • Sonakshi’s acting
  • Konkana’s failed charm
