While the heavy rainfall witnessed by Visakhapatnam was much-needed, the GVMC issued an alert for Vizagites regarding the same. Reportedly, heavy rain is likely in isolated places at all coastal districts of AP today.
The Indian Meteorological Department claimed the warning to be a result of the cyclonic circulations over North Bay of Bengal. A through also runs at sea level from a low pressure area across Coastal AP and Rayalseema to south Tamil Nadu.
IMD stated that a low pressure has formed over the North West of Bay of Bengal in the areas that adjoin Odisha and West Bengal. GVMC Chief M Hari Narayanan issued an alert requesting citizens to be cautious in lieu of the heavy rainfall warning issued. The officials have been instructed to take all steps possible to prevent the property damages or any incidents that might occur due to the rainfall.
Mandasa in Srikakulam district received the highest rainfall on Sunday. 47.5mm of rainfall was received in the area, followed by Haripuram that received 45.75mm rainfall. Madhurawada on the other hand received 30.25mm of rainfall yesterday. Light to moderate rainfall occurred yesterday at most parts of coastal AP. While cloudy weather developed in the morning, the incessant rainfall started in the evening. The same will continue on Monday under the influence of trough.
