According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Amazon CEO, Jeff Bezos recorded a net worth of $150 billion on Monday morning. Bezos, with a worth of $55 billion more than the second richest Bill Gates, has thus emerged as the richest person in modern history.
The 54-year-old beat Bill Gates in inflated-adjusted terms. Back in 1999, Bill Gates’ net worth briefly touched the $100 billion mark, which would be worth around $149 billion currently. Thereby, by achieving the milestone of $150 billion in New York on Monday, Jeff Bezos stands as the world’s richest man ever since Forbes announced its first billionaires’ ranking list in 1982.
Amazon’s share closed at a record $1822.49 giving Bezos a whopping net worth of $150.8 billion. The current numbers have also brought the Amazon honcho in a touching distance of the Walton family’s $151.5 billion, which is the world’s richest dynasty.
Bill Gates, with a net worth of $95.5 billion, stands second on the list, who is followed by Warren Buffet ($83 billion) and Mark Zuckerberg ($83 billion), and Amancio Ortega ($75 billion) respectively.
Reportedly, Gates would have possessed more worth had he held on to the assets that he had given away to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. As per an analysis of his publicly disclosed giving, the Microsoft founder had given away about 700 million shares of Microsoft and close to $3 billion cash and other assets since 1996.
