With several Assembly and Lok Sabha candidates filing their nominations for the upcoming polls, the scenes across many parts of the state are nothing less than those of pompous celebrations. From the party members fervently shouting out party slogans to the boisterous bikes bearing party flags rallying in a procession, candidates from different parties have left no stone unturned in ensuring their nominations are filed in the best spirits possible. However, one such recent nomination rally in Vizag left an ambulance stranded in traffic.
As per Eenadu, a 108 ambulance was transporting a patient from NAD junction to a hospital in the city. The report claims that on Thursday, the nomination rally of Malla Vijay Prasad, who is taking the field from YSRCP for the Assembly seat of Visakhapatnam West, caused traffic congestion in the area. The ambulance was held up in the traffic near Kancharapalem
in Vizag, leaving it stranded for help. It has also been reported that drumbeats of the rally caused inconvenience to the patient. After battling the traffic snarls for about 20 minutes, the path was cleared for the ambulance to reach the hospital.
Viewed as an opportunity to trumpet a candidate’s strength and support, nomination rallies have caused disruption to public life in the past too. There have reports claiming that citizens in Karnataka have expressed severe displeasure over the inconvenience being caused to commuters on the nomination days. Also, in the run up to the general elections, traffic officials in Hyderabad were directed
to ensure a free flow of traffic during rallies, nominations and meetings organised by political parties.News Source: Eenadu
