Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) President Amit Shah on Friday called Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and invited him for a discussion on the implementation of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act and assurances given in Parliament.
It has been learned that a delegation, led by Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Y. S. Chowdary, will meet Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Amit Shah, and other officials on March 5th, which also happens to be the deadline set by CM Naidu for the centre to make an announcement on the implementation of the promises made to the state during the bifurcation in 2014.
This comes after the state’s ruling party gave out signals that it was determined in upping the ante in its fight during the upcoming parliament sessions.
As per reports, TDP sources have said that CM Chandrababu Naidu will not compromise on the promises made to Andhra Pradesh. Apparently, Mr. Naidu also conveyed to Mr. Amit Shah that his fight is not against BJP but for people’s causes.
Mr. Rammohan Naidu and Mr. Kutumba Rao, who had met Mr. Amit Shah on Thursday to discuss the issues, said that response wasn’t very “encouraging”.
Last month’s parliament sessions were disrupted by the politicians from Andhra Pradesh who have been demanding the government to fulfill the promises made to the state in 2014.
In addition to demanding special status for Andhra Pradesh, the state government had urged the centre to release funds for the purposes of Amaravati, Kadapa Steel Plant and a railway division for the stretch between Vijayawada and Guntakal.
