The revamped anatomy dissection hall was inaugurated at Andhra Medical College (AMC) by the vice-chancellor of NTR University of Health Sciences, T Ravi Raju.
To provide better facilities to the students of AMC, work on refurbishment of the hall started a few weeks ago. A new name board for the college in English as well as Telugu was put up on the main building and also the new entrance gate was opened on Monday. The huge revamped hall features LED lights, fans, marble tables for dissection and new flooring. Age old statue of Mercury (Roman God) on the college premises was also renovated, and unveiled on Monday.
On the occasion the college principal T Radha said, “Alumni of the college had come forward to donate funds to refurbish the college premises. Out of 150 students from the 1975 batch, as many as 60 contributed Rs.12 lakh. Within six weeks the renovation works were completed
.”The college authorities facilitated Dr Digumarthi Raghunadha Rao, the director of Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, Visakhapatnam, who also won the BC Roy award in recent past. KGH superintendent G Arjuna, AMC vice-principal Padmavathi, Anatomy HoD Asha Latha and the team of 10 students from the 1975 batch were present on the occasion.
