The state of Andhra Pradesh has bagged the top spot in the Ease of Doing Business (EDB) list announced by Asia Competitiveness Institute (ACI). The list was compiled by a group of researchers led by Tan Khee Giap, Co-Director, ACI. Maharashtra and Delhi stood second and third respectively on the list.
The EDB survey was based on three ABC paramaters-Attractiveness to Investors, Business Friendliness and Competitiveness Policies.
Dr Giap, while addressing media along with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, opined that Andhra Pradesh receiving the top honours testifies the government’s efforts in ensuring a business-friendly environment in the state.
“International investors look for a stable government with strong policies before coming forward for investments. The state government would take into consideration the observations including weaknesses and try to strengthen those areas,” Chandrababu Naidu was quoted as saying by India Today.
Mr Naidu also said that the state would look into the report of ACI and improve on the areas of weaknesses. He further informed that the government is planning to distribute smartphones to everyone in the state for ease of living, giving rise to a need of close to 14 million smartphones.
