A slight relief has been brought on the people of Andhra Pradesh as the AP government reduced the price of Petrol and Diesel by Rs 2.
The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Nara Chandrababu Naidu has issued the orders regarding the price reduction around 3.30 pm today. The decision has been taken during the nationwide protests against the hike of fuel prices in the country.
While the fuel prices have been revised frequently for almost a year now, the prices have been experiencing an upward trend since May 14. The petrol price revisions, taking place on a daily basis, has become quite a tussle between OMC’s and the Central Government. On one hand, the PSU’s, being given the free hand in June, have resorted to passing on the retail cost to the end consumer. On the other hand, the Central Government has stressed upon the issue by asking the OMC’s to reabsorb the additional cost factor vis a vis passing it onto the consumer.
