The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced the results of JEE Main 2018 on its official websites jeemain.nic.in and cbseresults.nic.in on Monday evening. Both the first and second rank of the much- coveted entrance examination have been bagged by students of Andhra Pradesh.
Approximately 10,43,739 candidates attended the JEE main examination of which, 6,46,814 boys and 2,66,745 girls registered for admission in centrally funded undergraduate engineering programmes. As many as 2,31,024 qualified for JEE advanced 2018.
Bhogi Suraj Krishna, a General Category student from Vijayawada, secured the all India rank one in JEE Main examination. “I was confident of my performance when the answer keys were out but had not expected to bag the top rank”, Krishna told to PTI. The second rank was secured by KVR Hemanth Kumar Chodipilli from Andhra Pradesh while the third rank was bagged by Parth Laturia from Rajasthan.
One of the CBSE senior officials explained,”The JEE question papers are prepared in original by over 100 item writers. These item writers are subject experts. They prepare over 1,500 items over a period of two months. All these questions are handwritten. After that, 90 questions are drawn randomly and 8-9 sets are created. Anyone set is randomly picked for use in JEE.”
CBSE also mentioned there won’t be any weight-age to class 12 board exam this year but will rank students according to their JEE Main 2018 score.
