A deadly road accident near Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh has claimed six lives and left 15 individuals injured. Reportedly, all the six people killed in the accident belonged to the same family.
The mishap occurred when an unidentified vehicle hit a mini-truck near Peddahothur in Aluru mandal in the early hours on Wednesday.
According to police, the mini-truck was carrying 21 passengers who were headed to Ellarthi Dargah in Adoni. The truck had a break-down on its way and required the driver’s attention. While the driver was looking into the technical snag, 15 passengers got down from it whereas the remaining six chose to stay back in the mini-truck.
Unfortunately, all the six people, including two children, who remained in the truck were killed instantly when a vehicle rammed into it. The remaining 15 individuals sustained injuries, the police informed.
The deceased have been identified as Mehek (7), Asrar (9), Asif (17), Hussain (23), Khaja (24), Fathima (26). The injured have been admitted to a hospital in Kurnool.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 3 lakh and Rs 2 lakh to the family of the deceased.
YSRCP leader YS Jagan too expressed his grief over the mishap.
Also, senior leader TG Venkatesh announced a relief amount of Rs 3 lakh to the injured.
