A 25-year-old Indian man, who hailed from Andhra Pradesh, was one among the three deceased in the US bank shootings. The unfortunate incident occurred on Thursday when a gunman opened fire in a bank building in the city of Cincinnati in the US before police shot him dead. A total of five people were shot at; one of them died on the spot and two others died in the hospital.
The 25-year-old, identified as Pruthviraj Kandepi, belonged to the Guntur district in Andhra Pradesh and breathed his last when Omar Enrique Santa Perez from the town of North Bend, Ohio, opened fire at the headquarters for the Fifth Third Bank near Fountain Square in downtown Cincinnati, police said.
An official the Telugu Association of North America (TANA) said that Kandepi worked as a consultant with the bank. Arrangements were being made to send his body to India, he further added.
As per the information provided by /India’s Consul General in New York Ambassador Sandeep Chakravorty to news agency PTI, the consulate has been in constant touch with the police and Pruthviraj Kandepi’s family.
Reportedly, the shooter had a pistol and more than 200 rounds of ammunition. Perez was shot multiple times by the police officers and he died on the spot.
