TDP MLA eats, sleeps and bathes at the crematorium for two days

To disprove a point about superstitious beliefs and how wrong it is from some people side who are into such beliefs, TDP MLA from Palakole in Andhra Pradesh, Nimmala Rama Naidu,  slept at a crematorium of his locality. This “brave” act from his side has been praised by Kerala Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan.

The constituency where Rama Naidu has been elected as an MLA bears a crematorium which has almost fallen to ruins. Though the surroundings of the crematorium are considered to be horrible, people with no other choice left cremate bodies amongst the dust and ruins.

After winning the position of MLA, one of the main mottoes that stood in front of Rama Naidu was the renovation of the crematorium. The Andhra Pradesh State Government has also provided a fund of 3 Crores for the same. But, due to the superstitious beliefs of the people and the scenes of half-burnt bodies around, the MLA did not find a contractor for a very long time. It was a few weeks earlier that he finally found a contractor but the workers were not ready to work there claiming ‘ghostly presence’. Rama Naidu, to enlighten the workers and to bring a change in their mindsets, has decided to spend two days in the crematorium. He slept there with a mosquito net around his bed, had food and bathed there itself for two days.

What disturbed Rama Naidu was not any ghost but mosquitoes and stench from the garbage around.

From the next day, workers started coming and have started working at the crematorium.

For being thoughtful, brave and socially conscious, the people leader has been recieving accolades not just from the people but also from national media and leaders outside Andhra Pradesh.

Kerala CM, Pinarayi Vijayan, took the praise to his Twitter handle.

“TDP MLA Nimmala Rama Naidu deserves praise for spending a night at a crematorium where workers had refused to enter after dark to do modernization work out of fear of ‘spirits’ “, the CM tweeted.
