Rose Ringed Parakeet
Four years post-bifurcation, the state of Andhra Pradesh has declared it state symbols on Wednesday, via a Government Order (GO) by the state government’s Department of Environment, Forest, Science and Technology.
While blackbuck, locally known as Krishna Jinka, has been retained as the state animal, rose ringed parakeet, popularly known as Rama Chiluka, has been declared as the state bird. Jasmine and Neem have been chosen to be the state flower and state tree respectively.
“The government of Andhra Pradesh felt that it was necessary to have a separate set of symbols for the state after bifurcation,” the GO said.
Telangana was seperated from Andhra Pradesh on June 2, 2014, after the AP reorganisation act was passed in the parliament.
