In a shocking incident, a police in Andhra Pradesh was assaulted on Tuesday for interrupting the drinking session of a group of six individuals at Sunnipenta in the Nallamalla Tiger Reserve.
Reportedly, the police officer was attacked as he had asked the individuals to refrain from drinking and creating chaos in the forest.
In a video that has gone viral, it can be seen that the officer was repeatedly slapped by the individuals and was also demanded that he touch their feet for “spoiling” their session. At one point, it can also be heard that an attacker claims to be associated to an MLC in Telangana, who reportedly, denied any such association with the assailant.
“I was on patrolling duty when I saw an SUV with six people consuming alcohol. I approached them and told them that this was a reserve forest area and they could not drink there. They immediately began threatening and intimidating me before assaulting me.” the police officer told
the reporters.It has been learned that the six individuals were on their way to Srisailam when the took a halt near the forest area and began boozing. The police officer, Jyothi Swaroop, was patrolling on duty, asked them to stop drinking as it is banned in the forest area.
The injured police officer, who later filed a complaint, was treated at a local hospital. While five of the accused have been detained by the police, one of them is on the run.
