The new year in Andhra Pradesh will be marked by its own separate High Court. With the Supreme Court giving the green signal to the Andhra Pradesh government, the new law institution will be the 25th High Court in India.
The new court will initially function from a temporary structure before a permanent set up is established in the prestigious ‘Justice City Complex’ that is deemed to be built in the state’s capital city of Amaravati.
since the state bifurcation on 2 June 2014, the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have shared a common High Court in Hyderabad.
A bench of Justices AK Sikri and Ashok Bhushan gave its hearing on the issue. “We expect such a notification to be issued by January 1, 2019, so that the two High Courts start functioning separately and High Court of Andhra Pradesh also starts functioning in the new building at the earliest. It is also clear that the Judges of the High Court, who would become Judges of High Court of Andhra Pradesh, are satisfied with the facilities in the said building inasmuch as Full Court of the High Court has approved the proposal after Inspection Committee of Judges submitted a report in this behalf,” the bench was quoted
as saying in an article by NDTV.Advocate Fali S Nariman of the state government of Andhra Pradesh said that the requisite arrangements for the judges were being taken care of at Amaravati.
