In a rather disturbing occurence, a man in Andhra Pradesh committed suicide by hanging himself allegedly demanding Special Status Category for the state.
The 29-year-old, identified as N Sudhakar, was a worker in a handloom weaving firm in Rama Rao Nagar colony in Madanapalle town of Andhra Pradesh. The man was found hanging from the ceiling by his parents on Saturday morning. Both the parents of Sudhakar are sanitation workers and were away from home when he took the extreme step.
As per a letter recovered from the deceased’s pocket, a message read, “No one is responsible for our death. Special category is our right.”.
It has also been learned that Sudhakar was an active participant in various agitations that were held for the Special Status Category of Andhra Pradesh.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu offered his condolences to the family. He also announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh from the government and another Rs 5 lakh from the Telugu Desam Party. The CM also vowed to stand by the family throughout.
YSRCP leader, YS Jaganmohan Reddy too expressed grief over the unfortunate incident and urged the people not to take such extreme steps but join the fight in order to achieve special status for Andhra Pradesh.
