As per the World Happiness Report for the year 2017, the state of Andhra Pradesh has been ranked as the 74th happiest state globally with a happiness score of 5.368. India, on the other hand, stood 122nd on the list consisting of 155 nations.
World Happiness Report is generally used to evaluate the happiness quotient of the people in several nations worldwide. However, Andhra Pradesh had signed an MoU with the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) to assess the state’s position in terms of its citizens’ happiness. In fact, Andhra Pradesh is, reportedly, the only state in the nations to be linked with SDSN. It has also been learned that the state is implementing better practices and participating in global competitive affairs.
As per a report presented by the state government in the collectors’ conference, the responses of 16,159 people were used for the evaluation. The key aspects in evaluating the rank were GDP, generosity, social support, corruption in business, corruption in the government, freedom to make life choices etc.
Also, in the rankings for the Global Competitiveness Index (GCI) for the year 2016-17, Andhra Pradesh climbed to the 36th spot from the previous raking of 51.
The government officials said the happiness of the people is their key priority and will look to implement better facilities to make Andhra Pradesh stand among the best states in the country.
