Andhra University, AU, will be sending a proposal to the Central government to be recognised as a ‘Heritage University’. Most of the buildings that make up the university hold historical importance. A financial assistance of Rs 100 crore has been sought by the university towards maintaining the structures.
The Vice-Chancellor of Andhra University, G Nageswara Rao met his senior faculty, HODs and principals to inform them of the same. A chairperson of the Board of Studies was also present at the meeting. Prof Nageswara Rao explained the various steps taken by the university to improve the standards on the campus.

The syllabus will be modified to suit the industry requirements and an academic audit cell will be established to monitor examinations, teaching and research. Students absent for 20 days without valid reasons will no longer be allowed to attend examinations.
