A 27-year-old woman, a native of Kalabalem in Krishna district, unfortunately, passed away in Andhra Pradesh after her C-section surgery in Vijayawada allegedly went wrong.

According to Times of India, Vanga Chittemma, who was a daily wage labourer, was initially admitted to Kaikaluru government hospital when she faced her labour pain. However, she was later admitted to the Government General Hospital in Vijayawada on February 19th when her Caesarean operation was done and she delivered a baby girl.

Soon after the operation, at around 10:00 am, she started to face trivial stomach pain for which, she was admitted to the ICU of the hospital, where slipped into a coma. The doctors of GGH, Vijayawada said that she had a kidney problem and since they did not have adequate dialysis machines, the doctors suggested the relatives take her to the Guntur GGH.

In the Guntur GGH, she was kept on a ventilator and was constantly under observation. The Superintendent of GGH, Dr. Raju Naidu said, “Chittemma underwent dialysis on Wednesday as her urine output got blocked. We conducted the procedure again on Thursday. She is under constant observation. her condition is very critical.”

However, after battling her ailment for about a week, the victim passed away on Sunday. Director of Medical Education, M Subbarao told TOI, “There has been a delay in reaching the hospital and her condition was critical by the time she reached the hospital. She developed nephrosis with excessive bleeding.”

The relatives, reportedly, got furious and refused to take the body, and demanded justice. The agitated relatives of the deceased claimed that the inexperience of the junior doctors, who performed the surgery, cost the life of Chittemma.

The Regional Development Officer of Gudivada also visited the hospital and met the agitating relatives and assured help from the government side, The News Minute reported.
